The mind is told to incline, not to empty.
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Weight set upon the Lord. Peace spoken twice…”shalom, shalom.” A city expectant, and the Rock already under the one who trusts. He keeps us because He is sure.
Another thought sits beside it.
“For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”
One mind veers toward what is seen.
One mind is set in the Spirit.
Death and life mingle in our thoughts. This is where the mind has come to stay.
The Lord on whom the mind leans is the invisible God.
Invisible is not a distance nor abandonment.
He does not arrive when the fear has finished its sentence. He is not missing from the hour the eyes are measuring.
So peace is not the improved moment.
It is a mind that has somewhere to rest while the moment is still the moment.
He keeps us. His promise is sure and unwavering.
The Spirit is life and peace.
The unseen God is not away.
